*For School-Age Kids/Teens:

(*Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.)
We offer lessons in several instruments. Not sure which one is right for your child? Just come in on Saturday and we’ll happily discuss your options. We personalize by matching students with the instruments best suited to their interests and learning styles. We welcome students of all levels and abilities, from the young beginner just starting to explore an instrument to the teen preparing for a college audition.

For Adults/Seniors:

We offer lessons in several instruments. Not sure which one is right for you? Just come in on Saturday and we’ll happily discuss your options. We personalize by matching students with the instruments best suited to their interests and learning styles. We welcome students of all levels and abilities. Freed from the rules of childhood, adults often take a more relaxed approach when starting or returning to an instrument. Whether it be for the challenge of learning something new or to revisit an activity started in youth, music is a great addition to anyone’s life.

Music Class Structure:

10am -11am
During this hour our instructor, Rick Bemis, introduces new students to the program and review for repeating students. Like any other discipline or creative field, music has it’s own language. The language of music is a very crucial part of the program and applies to all instruments. This language of music, music theory, is fundamental for all musicians of all levels. This part of music is pivotal in all areas of music including reading, writing, playing and understanding music! Many repeating students may feel like this hour is repetitive but when this happens we ask you to ask yourself if you have learned and retained ALL the information. Many times even for intermediate students the answers is no. 🎵🎶🎼

11am – 12pm
During this hour our instructors conduct several group exercises to put in practice as a group what has been thought during the first hour. The class practices as a group compositions with the various instruments available. The information in the first hour is crucial during this hour. If you skip the first hour thinking you just want to learn how to play instruments believe us that you are not learning as quickly and efficiently. 🎷🎸🎹🎺🎤

12pm – 1pm
This hour our class breaks in to groups according to type of instruments. Practice may be guided by the available instructors or solo practice in various rooms. Again this hour is a culmination of the prior two hours of information and group practice. 🎼🎤🎷🎸🎵🎶🎺🎹🎻.

*1pm – 2pm
Student guided guitar circle. After our instructors have left, several students remain to practice the assigned homework. Also students learning other instrument who would like to stay and practice are also welcomed during this hour.
*Note: availability for this hour varies.

VERY VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:

Class structure may vary due to the available instructors and teaching styles of each instructors. Our VOLUNTEER teachers are professionals in their field and they approach their teachings as such. If you stick to the program and take advantage of these hours of class, you’ll see progress. Homework is encouraged of all students to practice at home all lessons learned in class. Additionally, like in any other class you want to get the most of, you want to research and practice on your own time as well. Remember you get what you put into it!

No registration need. First come first served. CALB has several instruments for students to use during class but we encourage students to bring their own instruments.
